Windows 7 is here…

A laughter or two once in a while is usually healthy for our body system. Microsoft has previously used infomercials to promote its latest operating system Windows 7. In my opinion the infomercial campaign for Windows 7 does not really appeal to the technologically elite; System Administrators, Graphic Designers, Developers and what have you. It is therefore not surprising that Windows 7 has received another front to its marketing.

Animated comic stylings like Family Guy, American Dad and The Simpsons are great sitshows on American TV and have gathered lots of viewers. It is only fair that Microsoft takes advantage of this opportunity to give Windows 7 a leap forward in the software market.

Microsoft plans to announce a deal with News Corp.’s Fox Broadcasting Corporation that will see Microsoft sponsor a TV show that will merge a pitch for Windows 7 and the voices of the creators of Family Guy Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein. The show “Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show” will be airing on Sunday, November 8th at 8.30 pm ET and PT.

There will be no commercial breaks for this show and all are advised to take bathroom breaks in advance. The show will focus on Windows 7 in in its story line replacing all commercials that are usually aired through the normal Family Guy show.

In a statement, Microsoft and Fox said they hope to “bring the old ‘Texaco Star Theater’ style sponsorships into the 21st century.” MacFarlane, the creator and primary voice of “Family Guy,” and Borstein, voice of the series’ Lois character, worked with Microsoft, Redmond Advertising Agencies–Universal McCann, and Crispin, Porter & Bogusky, to create the show.

“While the way people watch TV has evolved, their desire to be entertained, and marketers’ need to deliver compelling content, hasn’t changed,” the companies said. “Microsoft and Fox are joining forces to showcase how the power and simplicity of Windows 7 can enhance the content Fox viewers enjoy most, whether it’s comedy, drama, sports, or reality programming on TV or on the Web.”

There is also a plan to implement a 12 week college tour that will allow students to try out Windows 7. During this tour students will also enjoy outdoor-movie nights hosted by the Stewie and Brian characters in “Family Guy”.

Windows 7 was surely presented to the world in style on October 22nd. The promotion department went all out made the worldwide exercise memorable by giving away free copies of Windows 7 to every resident of the Dutch village of Zevenhuizen that is (Seven Houses). Painting the town of Sietes (Seven) in Spain, in official Windows colors. In Japan huge 7-patty Whoopers were being sold at Burger King outlets at 777 yen each for 7 days.
