Google tapping the potential of Mobile Ads

It is common knowledge that: there are more mobile users than there are computer owners. Advertising through the mobile communication platform will reach more users, faster. Google is setting itself to be the worlds Ad center by its announcement on Monday to acquire the mobile advertising company AdMob in a stock deal worth $750 million.

Through Google blog, the giant search engine said that the purchase will enhance Googles existing enterprise and technology in mobile advertising.

The move will see Google be a giant display ad player on the Internet and now mobile. Previous moves by Google to the mobile world was through its mobile text ads.

With the acquisition Google will have a plethora of mobile tools which include an ad marketplace, analytics and metric tracking. The acquisition will see that Google levies the power of mobile ads on Google’s back-end infrastructure. Google says on its Facts about Google’s acquisition of AdMob:

  • The deal will bring new innovation and competition to mobile advertising, and will lead to more effective tools for creating, serving, and analyzing emerging mobile ads formats.
  • This deal will benefit developers, publishers, and advertisers by improving the performance of mobile advertising, and will provide users with more free or low-cost mobile apps.
  • The mobile advertising space will remain highly competitive, with more than a dozen mobile ad networks. The deal is similar to mobile advertising acquisitions that AOL, Microsoft, and Yahoo have made in the past two years.

On Google Blog, Google says that “the mobile web is still in its early stages” and mobile advertisement products will encourage the growth of the mobile ecosystem.

This move opens up new avenues for both Advertisers and Publishers to reach the ever increase number of mobile users through mobile users, websites and applications.

Publishers will have better products and tools and more effective monetization of their content. This will allow publishers to generate content with more focus on their users instead of how to generate revenue. This does not mean that the revenue part will be done by somebody else but the new tools will entail configurations that will maximize on content creation and also easier management of income generation.

For advertisers, what better way to reach millions of users than through their mobile communication devices. Mobile users will be engaged through mobile content, bringing Google AdSense’s style of more relevant ads and greater reach in a more interesting and engaging ad formats.

Lastly, users will benefit from this deal — through the mobile content and ads that deliver useful information. For further information on this acquisition check out Facts about Google’s acquisition of AdMob
